It was a great discussion about what a chancellor and a UW campus wants from their Representatives in WI and I look forward to working closely with Chancellor Meyer moving forward if I get elected. Bob has a total of almost 30 years of his life at UW-Stout along with some time working with WITC so he also understands the needs of the two year institutions as well.
It was great to get his take on a lot of education topics. I was amazed that Stout has a 97.3% employment (or continued higher education) rate for their graduates. Stout strives to continue that number by offering perhaps fewer majors than other universities, but they are very specialized. Bob and UW-Stout works very closely with employers to make sure their courses evolve with the needs of the people who will potentially be hiring the grads….it’s a very good system
I then got a tour of the campus from Don Steffen which included the much talked about Stout FAB Lab. I was very surprised to learn how much the general public and local businesses use the lab for various projects as well……it really is a community FAB Lab.
Thank you to Bob Meyer and Don Steffen for your time today.
